His Majesty's Dragon

Naomi Novik's Temeraire series is about an alternate history in which the Napoleonic War is drastically altered by the inclusion of an aerial force made up of men piloting dragons. It's original not only the setting but also in the way that dragons are crewed by a group of gunners and brigadiers rather than a single dragon rider, like you would see in most other fantasy fiction involving dragons.
